The Petits Chanteurs Franciliens (Paris)Founded in 1946 by Father Jean Berthault, the choir school La Manécanterie des Petits Chanteurs Franciliens was originally domiciled near Paris. By 1990, the choir had established itself in the heart of Paris at the Church of Notre Dame des Blancs Manteaux (Our Lady of the White Mantles), a well-known center of french musical life famous for its organ and its acoustics. It is in this church that the choir has continued its traditional extra curricular activities of rehearsals, sight-reading and musicianship, musical masses, concerts, recordings, musical studies, and… every summer, a music camp, to round out the training. Today’s choir consists of approximately thirty boys from age 8 and up studying in Paris. It offers a triple program: musical, humanist and spiritual. The Petits Chanteurs Franciliens have discovered many countries via their musical tours as well as through their participation in the International Congresses of the Pueri Cantores They have produced 18 recordings and, since 1999, are directed by Regis de la Roche. In the course of the school year 2006/2007, the choir has prepared Mozart’s SpatzenMesse, Charpentier’s Midnight Mass, Pergolese’s Stabat Mater and Fauré’s Requiem.
